blood used to pump through my arteries like swift currents of glacial water, carving trenches into a beating heart as if it was nothing more than compact ice. they carried with them the sharp strokes of a kiss, feeling every bit like static electricity orbiting throughout your veins, lighting your soul on fire; it felt like one year ago. it felt like forever. when my name was still relevant in the deep valleys of your amygdala and you still wallowed in the strokes of my fingers against the skin of a being that didn't know how or what to feel; as if maybe there was anything left to feel at all.

Things I learned in '09

Well, now that it's '10, I just thought I'd make a list (sort of for my own sake, don't ask why) of a bunch of reeeaallly important things I realized/learned in '09. 10. Don't ever underestimate anyone. Even the nicest people can screw you over. 9. Just because somebody is "nice" on the outside, doesn't make them a good person on the inside. 8. Stand up for something. It means you're finally learning to stand on your own 2 feet when you do. 7. Don't ever get your hopes up too high. 6. Don't take things so seriously. When you overreact, you really don't know who you could be hurting in the end, (surprisingly, you are hurting people). 5.
